My study in Tai Chi began in 1984 when a friend told me of a woman who was teaching Tai Chi in the city where I lived. My friend was very enthusiastic, so I had to go there and see what all the fuss was about. I went, and ever since then I've been hooked on Tai Chi! Not only was I hooked on Tai Chi, but also on the teacher I met there! Shabab was teaching this class and in January 1985 we started dating and by August of that same year we were married! We are still very much in love and now we enjoy teaching Tai Chi together.
The first time I worked with San Gee Tam was in January 1985. I have been attending his workshops ever since as I have found them both invaluable and enjoyable. I participated in a professional Tai Chi training program in Belgium from 1991 to '93. San Gee instructed us in a level of the Small Circle Internal Power form.
I started teaching Tai Chi in September, 1989, and, beginning with a small group of dedicated students, the school has successfully grown to more than 40 students here in Utrecht. I am also honoured to be the Chief Instructor of Golden Flower Tai Chi in The Netherlands which includes responsibility to lead and arrange workshops in the Golden Flower system. I work together with the other members of the association in our country to create a harmonious and productive group where the quality of Tai Chi can flourish and develop. Instructor - Shabab Mark
In 1982 I took a course in London and met some people who were very much into doing Tai Chi. They invited me to join them and took me to meet their teacher, master San Gee Tam. Little did I know that I would keep on doing Tai Chi with master San Gee Tam in the Golden Flower School for the rest of my life.
I feel very fortunate that I have met master San Gee Tam and kept on doing Tai Chi. Where some of the instructors are naturally athletic and lean, I am most certainly not. Practicing Tai Chi for me is a necessity of life, I would get ill and pain stricken if I would not. So if you think Tai Chi is difficult, think of me! Yes it is! And at the same time it will give you health, flexibility, endurance, stability and harmony by just sticking with it. That is what I do and it works sublime!
I am very happy to teach Tai Chi with my husband, the European Chief Instructor, Job Koesoemobroto. Together we make an excellent team: Job is good in martial applications, where I always point out the practicality of Tai Chi in daily life. Together we emphasize the opportunity of cultivating your self-development by practicing Tai Chi.
It is my intention to both practice and teach Tai Chi for many more years to come. Please join us in our study of the natural world of being human through the beauty of Tai Chi.

Hetty has been teaching Tai Chi for 25 years.
She now offers 5 classes each week in The Hague, teaching Golden Flower Tai Chi. There are classes for all levels.
