Instructor - Tom Gold-Blyth

Having discovered Tai Chi as a student in 1985, I loved the unique combination of relaxation and energy development and went on to study with Gerda Geddes, Kinthissa and Tew Bunnag. In 1992 with increasing involvement in the world of commerce and London's pulsating dance culture I decided to take a break from Tai Chi.
Through my old friend Robert King (also a Golden Flower Instructor) I reconnected with Tai Chi in 1998 and soon started attending training events with Master San Gee Tam. I found the Golden Flower curriculum to be highly effective for both personal development and cultivation of happy chi. I was inspired by Master San Gee Tam's teaching and by the strong sense of community that thrives in the school. In 2005 I qualified as a Golden Flower Instructor and am now teaching classes in Oxford. In all my classes I aim for students to experience both the fun and lightness of playing Tai Chi whilst also giving insight into the depth of experience and development that is available. I am married with two young children, living in Oxford.

My Tai Chi Journey started in 1992, when I went to a class in Croydon with Paul Brewer with the aim to learn to relax. I got a lot more into the bargain - it helped me to be not just much more relaxed but to be more focused, centred and balanced in my whole being. As a physiotherapist I also very much appreciated the Health aspect of Tai Chi. I continued my practise after moving to Chichester in 1994, but also noticed that I needed a class to progress my studies. I tried a few classes until I came across the Golden Flower Classes run by Martin and Tricia Pomroy in 1996.
Over time being a student turned into assisting more and more and I became involved in the Instuctors training going to Retreats and Trainings in Holland, Belgium and America. I trained with the Chief Instructor Job Koesoemobroto and then with the Master of the school San Gee Tam. I qualified as a Golden Flower Instructor in 2005.
I am continually inspired by Master San Gee Tam’s teaching and the curriculum the school offers: personal development in any aspect of life and the cultivation of Happy Chi. I also enjoy the great sense of community and friendship in the school.
In my classes I aim to reflect these aspects so that students can benefit from Tai Chi as much as I do, having fun and enjoyment, depth of experience and also being able to allow personal development.
I live in Chichester and I am married with two young children.
